  • Grumpified Grumpy Grump

I attempted in vain to lay Nathan down for his nap... he's not having it, however. He has been rubbing his bleary, sleepy little eyes since he woke up this morning, protesting everything that I did with squirming and grunts of dissatisfaction. However, he started out in a great mood this morning with a huge grin and scissor legs. We spent some time "talking" to each other for which I was rewarded with ton of h...
  • Leaps and Bounds

Remember how I've been talking about how Nathan's been moving around all over the place via various forms of crawling? Well, he's suddenly on the brink of being able to crawl forwards with his tummy off the floor! Today, he got on all fours and actually crawled, belly off the floor, two steps! (Can you even call it that... steps?) He got up on all fours and rocked back and forth a few times. Then he spied Mr. ...
  • It Has Begun!

Remember yesterday how I posted that the weather was forecasted to bring some dearly-missed snow to the state of Tennessee? (Click here to read about it). Well, guess what? IT HAS BEGUN. As of 7:00 this evening. So far, grassy surfaces have about an inch or so, and the snow has started laying on the roads. Totally cool. Well, unless you live up north.  Then you probably think it's really silly to get all e...
  • A Harrowing Experience Called.... Childbirth

It shouldn't be. Seriously. Childbirth is a natural thing... women have been birthing for thousands, if not millions, of years. The medical field of today agrees with a roaring "that's right, folks!" but their actions say otherwise.   They strap you down to a bed via blood-pressure machines, IV lines, and fetal monitoring devices, rendering you immobile and in the worst possible position for childbirth- your b...
  • "Sibling" Rivalry

Our cats always seem to have it out for each other... in a very passive-aggressive way. Although the  physical "cat fights" themselves are rare, (sometimes Turbo will swat at Kayli. Other times Andrew will smack his tail into Turbo's face) the physical altercations are no match for the MIND WARS they tirelessly play with each other. Take the above picture, for instance. Meeper, the cat on the right, was s...

I bet the iPhone 4s is more awesome than your kid letting you sleep late

You guys, I can’t even tell you how bad I want the new Apple iPhone 4s. Right now, I have an old-school RAZR, and I am beginning to wonder if I am the only person in the world still using this type of phone! Seriously, there have been many times I’ve been using my phone in public and a complete stranger will approach me and jokingly tell me that I need to upgrade.

It’s been a long time since I’ve really, REEEEEAAAAAALLY wanted something, and this I WANT!!

One cool kid

He’s such a good sport and playfully let me take pictures of him with a pair of sunglasses on. This kid is such a ham… he loves the camera, loves having his picture taken, and insists on looking at the pictures when we’re done.  Sometimes he’ll even approach me first, asking “Pictures? Please?” in an attempt to get me to break out the camera and take some pictures. We are truly blessed to have such an awesome little boy with such a big personality!

Oh Potty Training

Well, potty training is not advancing as quickly as I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, Nathan loves sitting on his potty. WITH HIS DIAPER ON. The moment I take his diaper off, however, he starts crying and refuses to sit on his potty anymore. I don’t make a big deal out of it, because Nathan is so strong-willed that if I do, he will do the exact opposite of what I desire. So I just act like it’s no big deal. In reality, however, it’s a little frustrating.

I’ve been taking Nathan to his potty for about two months now. He gets really excited about going to the potty, but will only sit on the potty fully-clothed for a few seconds. And the last couple weeks or so, he’s started to act disinterested. He’s simply not ready yet. I am more than ready, but he’s not.

Surely he won’t be in diapers forever. Right??

The other day, I was busy in the kitchen making Nathan his lunch. I was in a hurry because everything was timed… I was cutting up his fruit and making my sandwich while I had some broccoli steaming on the stove. Nathan kept getting right under my feet, pulling at my shirt, trying to get me to stop and talk to him.

Nathan: “Ma! Mommy! Mom! Mommy! Mama! Ma! Mom! Mom! Mama! Mommy! Mommy! Ma! Ma! Ma! Mom! Mom! Mama! Mama! Mama! Mama! MAMA! MAMA! MOMMY! MOM! MOM!”

Me: “What, Nathan.”

Nathan: “I wove you!” (That’s how Nathan says “love.”)

Yes, my child has gotten into the annoying habit of saying Mommy, Ma, Mama, and Mom over and over again, trying to get my attention.  It reminds me of that Family Guy clip. I don’t particularly care for that show, but the clip is hilarious.
