So here lately, whenever Nathan gets in trouble for something, he stretches out his arms, toddles up to me, and gives me kisses and hugs. Even with little tears streaming down his face.
It doesn’t matter if I say a simple “No, not for Nathan” or “Don’t touch that, little guy.” His eyes well up with More >

So the other day, I was watching Nathan toddle around when I noticed he was chewing on something (You know he likes to chew on anything weird, and he chews on it slowly and subtly so that I won’t notice). Well, I opened his mouth, but he had tucked it in between the side of his cheek More >

You guys! I was feeding Nathan his lunch today when he suddenly was on the verge of an Apocalyptic Meltdown. So I started making silly faces at him. It was only partially successful. He wouldn’t stop crying, so he was laughing uproariously and crying SIMULTANEOUSLY. Like some sort of CRAZED, MANIC ELF.
What a strange kid.

1. Sometimes it’s easier to just push toys around with a vacuum instead of picking them up. I am guilty of doing this quite often.
2. Toddler poo stinks. Oh yeah. And let’s not forget that poo will sometimes explode out of the diaper. When this happens, your toddler will more than likely roll around in it.

Have I got something funny to tell you guys.
My mom came by my house yesterday. She was in the kitchen, and she bent over to pick something up off the floor. Nathan toddled up behind her and SMACKED HER BUTT. Seriously! Then he giggled and toddled away.
Just like the mischievous little imp that he is.

Nathan likes to attempt to tell me exactly what he thinks when I tell him he can’t do something. I shot this video a month or two ago (sorry it’s a bit blurry- I was still trying to figure out our camera), and it’s just a small sampling of what Life With a Toddler is like. A toddler More >

Nathan has finally started helping me get him dressed!
I was getting him ready for bed, and normally when I’m putting his shirt on, I have to hold the armholes open, reach through with my fingers, grab his flailing hand, and drag his arm through the armhole while Nathan protests loudly and strains against me.
I don’t More >

I came across this article and was completely floored. After I read it, I was thinking, Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? But no, it’s not a joke. There really is a group who is threatening to sue McDonald’s because ”McDonald’s marketing has the effect of conscripting America’s children into an unpaid drone army of word-of-mouth More >

In Nathan’s room, we keep the bookshelf sequestered behind a Rubbermaid tub and Paul’s great-great-grandmother’s rocking chair so that Nathan doesn’t try to climb the bookshelf or inadvertently pull it down on top of himself. We place the rocking chair in front of the bookshelf and tie a string from the doorknob to the handle More >

So Nathan has really been practicing his new walking skillz lately. A few days ago, he started taking the initiative to walk… so he no longer waits for me to prompt him or play our usual psychological warfare games in which I attempt to manipulate him into thinking that something he is hellbent on not More >

I’m sorry you’re having such a struggle. I hear that having a baby and a toddler can be quite trying! Just remember that this phase won’t last forever; before you know it, they’ll be grown. Hang in there, girl, you can do it!
