Well. Paul and I are both sick now. Paul’s not as sick as I am, and let me tell you, I feel miserable! Sore throat, stuffy nose, congestion, all that stuff. And the sad part is that even as miserable as I feel, I’m not nearly as sick as Nathan was. That kid is a real trooper, let me tell ya.
And in other news? Nathan loves saying “no” to everything. And he doesn’t just say “no,” he says “no… okay?”
For instance, today I asked him if he wanted some milk.
“No… okay?” he replied.
“Okay,” I said. “You want some juice?”
“No… okay?”
“Okay, Nathan. I love you.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No… okay?”
“Yes… okay?” I said.
“Okay,” Nathan said as he gave me a hug. I love that kid. Even if he is a bit cryptic.
Still sick…

Yesterday, I took Nathan to the doctor. The poor little guy has tonsillitis, bronchitis, and fluid in both of his years, but fortunately I took him to the doctor before it developed into an ear infection. Apparently, it’s all caused by a mycoplasma bacterial infection, which is also known as Walking Pneumonia. Only thankfully, it’s not in his lungs, just his tonsils. Nathan plays with a little boy at church who ended up giving it to Nathan and the three other kids in his group. Remember how I was ranting the other day about people bringing their actively sick kids to church? Well, this isn’t one of those times. The little boy was showing no symptoms. I even saw him, and he looked perfectly fine. So it’s not like his mom brought him to church knowing he was sick.
And now? Now I am fighting off the sickness as well. My throat has been really sore, along with a runny/stuffy nose, so I’ve been taking Zycam (which is supposed to help prevent colds or at least minimize their symptoms) so we’ll see how that goes. In the meantime, let’s hope I can overcome it because I DO NOT want what Nathan has.
Being sick is no fun

Nathan is so sick. He’s been coughing and sneezing with an itchy, runny/stuffy nose. He’s been miserable all day, following me around saying “Ug! Ug!” (that means “hug” in Nathanspeak) and clinging to my legs. I took him outside to cheer him up, and he didn’t even want to play. He just came over to where I was sitting and laid his head in my lap. I took him into the bathroom and turned on the hot water in the shower and read a number of books to him while the steam built up. That seemed to help him breathe better and get some of that mucus out of his lungs. Poor little guy. I hate seeing him sick.
On a bright note, I was making myself some lunch and Nathan got tangled in my legs as I took my bowl of pasta out of the microwave, causing me to drop it. The bowl broke and pasta went everywhere, and I looked over at Nathan who had backed up a few feet.
“Uh oh,” he said.
“That’s right,” I replied. “That’s a big uh oh!”
“Careful,” he told me simply. I laughed.
“Yes, sweetie. I need to be careful.” Good thing he’s there to remind me, huh?
