Finally! Nathan’s birthday pictures!

Finally! Nathan’s pictures from his birthday celebration are up! He had such a nice little birthday party… it was just family this year because he’s only two years and doesn’t quite grasp the concept of “birthday” just yet. And we all know he has a problem with too much going on, so we decided to keep it small and simple this year. But he LOVED his little party. He was all smiley and happy and was running around clapping his little heart out. Maybe it was because all the attention was focused on him. Maybe he could see how excited and happy all us adults were. Whatever the reason, he was totally diggin’ his special day. I still can’t believe my little baby is two years old.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and the Superbowl!! We did… or at least, we tried to. Nathan, however, had other plans. As soon as Paul would start watching the game, Nathan would grab a hold of his legs and steer him toward the kitchen for a snack, the refrigerator for some milk, or his room for some play time. And Nathan is just so darn cute that it is impossible to get irritated with him for doing it! He doesn’t understand what the Superbowl is all about, so to him, playing with blocks is WAY MORE IMPORTANT. Having a DVR certainly comes in handy when you’ve got a toddler around!
So this is the first time in a few days that I’ve had the chance to sit and relax. I’ve been on the go since Sunday and let me tell you, it feels great to finally be able to slow down and catch a breath. Soon, however, I will have to force myself to clean the house. Why can’t houses just CLEAN THEMSELVES? Wouldn’t it be awesome to just push a little button and have everything all dusted, vacuumed, mopped, and everything else? I know, I know. I dream big. So I’m going to sit here, relax, and enjoy the rest of the evening and pretend like there is NO cleaning to be done!
Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do!

Well, Nathan has started doing something new!! SINGING! Well, he’s no pro (yet) but he’s really working on it. See, he’s always liked when I sang to him, but just a couple days ago as I was singing that song “Doe, a deer… a female deer…. Ray, a drop of golden sun…” He just started belting out some tunes along with me! Especially on the notes that are held for a few beats, he really likes to join in on those. It’s so precious to watch and hear. His whole face lights up with a huge smile on his face. Oh! He also loves to sing his ABC’s with me… and I do the signs for them as I sing, and his favorite sign is the letter “Z.” And here’s the best part. Every time I sing his ABC’s, he DANCES. That’s right, he kicks his little feet and moves his little arms as he turns around in circles. Other favorite songs include our National Anthem, America the Beautiful, and My Country Tis of Thee (Yes, I am patriotic… my dad, both grandfathers, and many other family members have served in the military.) That kid loves music, and I love that he loves it!
