  • Because It's Hard To Be This Cute

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Easter! Nathan's Easter pictures turned out pretty good. We have a new camera that we got for Christmas, and I've finally had the chance to go through the manual and try some of the different functions on it.  (Hey, as all us moms know, we don't even have time to shave our legs every day...  and much less time to read through a manual!) Nathan was so patient with me while I...
  • Yet Another Shower Mishap

The other day, I was enjoying a shower. And I even had the rare opportunity to... SHAVE MY LEGS. You other Mamas know how it is. You hardly have time to shower, and when you do, you have to rush before your little one senses you are currently indisposed and abruptly wakes up from his or her nap. Or stops wanting to play in the exersaucer. Or no longer wants to play with Daddy. Gone are the days of long,...
  • Exersaucer! Part 3

As I've mentioned here and here, Nathan loves his exersaucer. And here, folks, is Part 3 of the Nathan's Exersaucer Saga. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt3zP8TzaZs

Because in Toddler Land, all things are edible

So as I was about to apply some lipstick, I noticed it had been mauled by what looks like little toddler teeth. I’m pretty sure Nathan ate it since I have yet to find any evidence of it being elsewhere. That’s ok… at least he left me some…

In other news, Nathan says the funniest things sometimes.

Me: “I love you, Nathan.”
Nathan: “I love me toooooooo!”

He’s at such a precious age. Don’t get me wrong… it’s NOT an easy age to parent by any stretch of the imagination. But his sweet disposition totally makes up for the frustrating times. Take my half-eaten lipstick, for example. It’s frustrating because that just-so-happens to be my favorite lipstick that I own (doesn’t it always work that way? Your favorite things are the ones that get destroyed) but yet I couldn’t be mad at him. It’s what kids his age do. They eat Mommy’s favorite things and then dole out hugs like candy so that you won’t be mad when you discover what they’ve been up to.

He has no idea I am stockpiling records of these little antics to tell his future wife one day… shhhhh…

Enjoying the weather

Sitting outside together, enjoying some beautiful weather. And oh yeah. Nathan loves having his picture taken. Every time I break out the camera, he grins and says, “Say cheeeeeeeeeese!” And of course he likes to scroll through all the pictures after I’ve taken them, exclaiming “There’s Mommy! There’s Nathan!” and even occasionally kissing or hugging the screen. I love this kid.

Just thinking

I can’t believe my little boy has grown so much… sometimes it seems like such a long, long time ago that he was a little baby. Other times it seems like just yesterday. I wonder how it will feel in ten years. Or twenty. Or thirty. I know I’m really going to miss him being little and all the sweet little things that come with it, especially the things like how a hug can make the world ok, how kisses have the magical ability to instantly heal absolutely anything, and especially the way he wraps his arms around my neck and tells me he loves me “so vewy much.” He’s at a tough age where he is testing every single one of his boundaries and purposefully not minding me just to see what I will do. But the sweet times totally make up for the frustrating ones.

I’m really going to miss these times when he’s all grown up. Even the hard parts. Because when he’s all grown up, I won’t be able to tickle his feet anymore or scoop him up in a giant bear hug and twirl around the room with him… and all the other sweet little things that come with this age. The good and the bad, it’s all part of it.  So every time he throws a temper tantrum or tries to assert his independence, I just tell myself that one day, I will look back at these days with fondness…

These boots are made for hot wheels

When I walked into Nathan’s room yesterday morning, I saw he had stuffed his boots full of his hot wheels. It’s so much easier to transport them from room to room when you have something to carry them in…
