Well, it could always be worse, right?

Feeling much better now!
Nov 3rd
I’m back to my old self! I kicked the sickness and everything is all butterflies and daisies now. Well, almost everything. Nathan’s cold is still lingering in the form of a ton (and I do mean a TON) of snot. Poor kid has snot dripping out of his nose constantly. Sometimes the snot forms big bubbles on his nostrils (gross!) and he wipes it with his hand, effectively smearing it all over his face.
It’s funny when it gets in his eyebrows. It’s like gel, only it’s free and it’s green. Smear in some snot, style the eyebrow hairs, and you’re all set!
But aside from the snot, we’re both feeling right as rain now. Paul never got sick, thankfully. I can’t believe he didn’t catch it… he loved on Nathan and took care of him while I was sick, plus he was around me a lot. I’m glad because that was one nasty cold. I have a feeling I might as well get used to getting sick more often, though. Now that we have a kid, it’s going to be hard not to. That’s just the way it is… kids seem to be sick all the time with stubborn coughs and runny noses.
Yucky old cold
Oct 31st
I got sick.
It’s not fun.
In fact, I am pretty sure I would rather stab my big toe with a pitchfork a few times than be this sick. But you wanna know what is making my life more bearable at the moment? The love of my wonderful husband. You know you’ve married the right person when you get sick and your spouse comes home from the store with your favorite chocolate ice cream, cold meds, orange juice, Kleenex, chicken noodle soup, and comfort food… gets up with the kid in the morning, makes you breakfast in bed, vacuums, straightens up the house, and changes Nathan’s dirty diapers, even the poopy ones!
I am feeling better today than I was on Friday. Shortly after I posted that I was starting to feel ill, it escalated into a a sore throat with lots of sneezing, a leaky nose, congestion, cough, and sinus pressure complete with itchy and stopped-up ears. Nathan, though, is still not feeling well at all. This is definitely a full-blown cold, and the lil guy is quite miserable. And I must say, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND why he whined so much last week because let me tell ya, this cold is just awful.
Then again, it’s been so long since the last time I’ve had a cold like this (years!) that I have forgotten how miserable it feels to be so sick. This cold is kicking our butts. The little guy is a trooper, though, because I know he’s feeling worse than I am. My immune system is amazing, plus it has nearly 30 years of experience. Nathan’s immune system, however, is only 21 months old.
Hopefully we will both be feeling better in the next couple of days.
And a HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all you out there!! Hope you all have a safe and wonderful evening and for any of you who are going trick-or-treating, I will be living vicariously through you. We decided not to do it this year because Nathan is at the stage where costumes and scary faces frighten him. (Plus, we wouldn’t have been able to take him anyway considering how sick we both are.) Next year though, hopefully!!
