The Christmas Tree is finally up. It’s bare- no lights or ornaments decorating it yet, but at least it’s up! Funny how much things change when you have a kid, especially a mobile one. Back before the Days of Mobile Nathan, we could haul the tree out, assemble it, light it, and decorate it on one fel swoop. It took a few hours but everything was accomplished in one day. Now? Now we do things in increments because there is a certain little.man running around who has a penchant for making things a tad difficult. But that’s ok; I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So anyway, we assesmbled the tree after Nathan had gone to bed. That way he could be surprised when he woke up in the morning. And he sure was! When he ran into the living room the following morning, his entire face lit up the moment he saw the tree. He didn’t care that it was bare- it’s still a Christmas Tree, after all, and he was delighted to have it there waiting for him.
And he can’t help himself. He has already started digging around in the branches, leaving telltale clues of his mischief. He’s going to love helping put the ornaments on! Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that he can refrain from removing them and secretly playing with them this year!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you are enjoying your holiday weekend! We’re having a fabulous time; Paul has been off work for the holiday, the weather’s been getting more Christmas-like, and we’ve been enjoying our time home together as a family. Couldn’t ask for anything better!
And on Thanksgiving, our family got together at Paul’s grandma’s house and totally indulged ourselves on delicious food! Turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole, green beans (the best green beans EVER, which are made by Paul’s grandmother herself!), green salad, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, pudding pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, coconut pie… my mouth is already watering just thinking about it all again! Even Nathan, who is picky so we thypically have to pack a seperate lunch for him, ate some of the deliciousness. Of course, we brought leftovers home but (no surprise) we ate every last crumb already.
I love this time of year! I’m so excited about Christmas!
I know, I know. This took me forever. But hey, I’m glad I got them up before Thanksgiving. (Even if it’s the DAY before Thanksgiving.) For Halloween this year, Nathan dressed up as Woody the Cowboy off the movie Toy Story, since Woody is pretty much his favorite character EVER. We didn’t actually go door-to-door trick or treating, but we did a couple different trunk-or-treats and a little party at our church. He loved it and had so much fun. And we found him the cutest pair of cowboy boots… after visiting TWELVE stores, that is. But totally worth it; Nathan is completely enamored with them! And oh, I’m no longer a platinum blonde… put some of my natural color back in. I like it much better!
