Be careful who you sing to…

Whew, it’s been a rough past couple days. The good news is that I can finally chew food again! See, on Monday, Nathan was squatting on the ground in front of me. I bent over to pick something up, and he popped up faster than a flea on a hot skillet and slammed his head into my jaw, sending a blinding white pain through the whole side of my face and right ear. I was singing a hymn to him at the time, so my mouth was wide open as I sang “God Almiiiiiiiiighty,” so my teeth literally slammed together.

I haven’t felt pain like that since, well, childbirth. Seriously, all I could do was lay down and cry. I couldn’t even open my mouth. At first, I thought he broke my jaw but now I wonder if maybe he just dislocated it and it popped back into place or something.

The funny thing is that it didn’t even phase Nathan. He simply rubbed the top of his head and said “Uh oh!” and then he resumed playing.  It’s a good thing I wasn’t in the middle of saying “Th” though, right? Because then I might be missing the tip of my tongue.

Yesterday, I was finally able to chew food. Today it still hurts, but it’s nothing like it was. So I’m thinking that I should keep my singing to myself for a while… or at least stay out of Nathan’s headbutting range.

And then to put the icing on the cake, I shut my finger in my car door yesterday. It hurts like the dickens, but at least it’s still intact. The door barely shut on it, but it’s all swollen and bruised and tender. It looks better today than it did yesterday, though.

So between Nathan causing my teeth to rattle in my head and me shutting the car door on my finger, it’s been a rough couple of days! It could always be worse though. My jaw is not broken, and neither is my finger so I am counting my blessings!
