life with a new baby
A manic little elf
You guys! I was feeding Nathan his lunch today when he suddenly was on the verge of an Apocalyptic Meltdown. So I started making silly faces at him. It was only partially successful. He wouldn’t stop crying, so he was laughing uproariously and crying SIMULTANEOUSLY. Like some sort of CRAZED, MANIC ELF.
What a strange kid.
His diaper must’ve been in a wad or something, I don’t know. But it took me holding him while dancing to one of his favorite songs to get him in a good mood again. Now, my arms and legs feel disconcertingly like big BLOBS OF JELLO, but hey! I successfully thwarted a temper tantrum!

So today, Nathan and I had to run to the store. When I was in the check-out line, I happened to look down at the nice black shirt I was wearing and noticed something was on it. Then I remembered Nathan wiping his face on me as I tried to get him into the car. More >
A pain in the neck

Owwwww. And I do mean OWWwwWWwww. Yes, I am complaining. My neck is killing me, thanks to my extremely strong-willed toddler. I initially hurt my neck in December… it sucked, but compared to how I feel now, the pain was more of an aggravating nuisance. I was trying to get Nathan into his car seat and he bucked up More >

There is something innately endearing about a child putting his or her shoes on the wrong feet. Nathan is completely enamored with his fireman boots. They were a Christmas gift from my mom, and let me tell you, Nathan can’t get enough of them. The first thing he does in the morning, before he’s even More >
Hands down, the best response ever.

Nathan and I went to the store today. He was very well-behaved for someone who’s not even three yet. And by that I mean there was no screaming, meltdowns, or throwing objects. His inquisitive little fingers only touched a few things and he only yanked himself away from me twice. He can’t get far… he More >
The race is on

Racing! I can’t help but smile every time I look at this picture. He’s just so adorable with his curly hair and legs that don’t reach the pedals. It won’t be long before he can play this for real without having to sit in his daddy’s lap. (Before I took the picture, he sat in More >

Well, Nathan didn’t learn his lesson from being grounded from his TV shows yesterday. He still snuck out of bed last night. See if he was just sneaking out of bed to simply play with his toys, I wouldn’t be so frustrated. But he sneaks out of bed and messes with the heater and humidifier More >
More and more like a big kid

Nathan is such a big boy. He’s big enough to get out of bed multiple times a night, sneak around his room, and quietly play with his toys. He’s big enough to try to scramble back into bed when he hears Paul or I coming. He’s big enough to apologize for his actions and promise More >

Love to learn
about 3 weeks ago - No comments
Nathan loves learning how to read. He doesn’t know how to read per se, but he recognizes many words by sight. He knows the alphabet, uppercase and lowercase, so we are working on what each letter sounds like and which words start with that letter. When we learn about the letter “B,” for example, I’ll More >

Don’t you wish we could get a way with having melt downs and have someone hold us and dance to our favorite song? Oh, we probably got that same treatment;too bad we can’t remember being that young!

I know, right? A toddler’s life is just SO hard, ya know. It’s not easy being showered with affection and attention and having your every need attended to!
