life with a new baby
A manic little elf
You guys! I was feeding Nathan his lunch today when he suddenly was on the verge of an Apocalyptic Meltdown. So I started making silly faces at him. It was only partially successful. He wouldn’t stop crying, so he was laughing uproariously and crying SIMULTANEOUSLY. Like some sort of CRAZED, MANIC ELF.
What a strange kid.
His diaper must’ve been in a wad or something, I don’t know. But it took me holding him while dancing to one of his favorite songs to get him in a good mood again. Now, my arms and legs feel disconcertingly like big BLOBS OF JELLO, but hey! I successfully thwarted a temper tantrum!

Kisses really do heal the pain :-)
about 5 days ago - No comments
So yesterday as I was walking around the house, I managed to twist my ankle. Don’t ask how I did that just by walking. I tend to be prone to clumsiness somehow! Anyway, it hurt like the dickens so I said, “OUCH!” as white pain shot up my leg. “You okay, Mommy?” Nathan asked from More >
First visit to the dentist
about 1 week ago - No comments
Ok, so remember last time I talked about Nathan face-planting in a parking lot and knocking his two front teeth loose? Well, this post is about the ensuing dentist visit. Nathan hadn’t been to a dentist yet. It was something on our to-do list, but for some reason, I thought that kids didn’t need to More >
Oh my poor little man

So it’s been a while since my last post. A lot has been going on here! The biggest news of all is that Nathan had another emergency room visit over the weekend. I had just finished working out and was meeting Nathan and Paul at a nearby restaurant. I arrived first, so I got a More >
Easter Pics!

Me, Nathan, and Paul when we first got to Paul’s grandparents’ house for some delicious food followed by some egg-hunting… all following a beautiful Easter service at our church. Of course, it can sometimes be incredibly difficult to convince a three-year-old to sit still for a picture, but we were finally able to get a More >
Little Nathan’s such a big boy

I’m so glad spring is here!! It’s been a warmer-than-normal winter here in Tennessee, so everything is blooming earlier. Which I like. Because I like spring. I feel all happy and spinning-around-in-circles giddy. I also like spring because it gives me this energy after enduring the drab slump of winter. I like to get my More >
Potty training, here we come
about 2 months ago - No comments
Big news in the house: Nathan is on the verge of being potty trained!! I’ve been working with him since last summer. Yes, it has taken MONTHS! I knew he was nowhere near ready, but I wanted to go ahead and introduce the idea to him. I didn’t push him and just let him get More >
Improvement!
about 2 months ago - No comments
You know how we’ve been having a bear of a time convincing Nathan to stay in bed at night? Well, you won’t believe this. Finally, after weeks of trying everything we could think of, there has been- gasp!- improvement! Nathan’s still getting up at night, but only 1-3 times as opposed to multiple times. When More >
And the sleeplessness continues…
about 2 months ago - No comments
Well, there has been no improvement with Nathan getting out of bed at night. My child’s willpower has surpassed mine. Unbelievable. If I had a white flag, I would totally wave it. We’ve tried everything we could think of, but nothing has worked. Discipline, bribes, rewards, promises… nothing has thwarted his apparently indomitable desire to More >
Oh the things they eat.
about 3 months ago - No comments
Nathan was walking around the house with something in his mouth. “Trees! Mmmm good trees!” he said as he chomped on it. Trees are what he calls broccoli. “What’s in your mouth, Nathan?” I asked. “Come here and give it to Mommy, please.” He hopped right on over to me, opened his mouth, and spit More >
Smile!

I had Nathan sit on his potty. I walked out of the bathroom for just a moment to do something when I heard him walking around. I rushed back in, worried pee would be puddled on the floor. As I put was putting his diaper back on, I fussed at him some and told him More >

Don’t you wish we could get a way with having melt downs and have someone hold us and dance to our favorite song? Oh, we probably got that same treatment;too bad we can’t remember being that young!

I know, right? A toddler’s life is just SO hard, ya know. It’s not easy being showered with affection and attention and having your every need attended to!
