Changing it up
Jul 6th
I hope you all had a wonderful July 4th!
We spent the day taking it easy and relaxing after a nice lunch with Paul’s grandparents. And even Nathan joined in on the chilling out by ONLY POOPING ONCE. He’s been pooping 3-4 times a day lately, and let me tell you, THAT GETS OLD. Who likes changing multiple poopy diapers a day? Certainly not many of us, me included.
We didn’t get to see the fireworks because we found out, once it was too late, that the fireworks in our town were going to be held on Saturday instead of Sunday. Saturday, however, we were watching the UFC fight, which was great, by the way. It was probably too late for Nathan anyways since they don’t start until around 10:00 at night, and Nathan is in bed by 9.
There’s always next year, though!
But today, our festivities are officially over. Paul has gone back to work after five whole days of being off. I always feel a twinge of sadness when he has to return to work, especially after a long weekend. I am lucky to have an amazing husband that loves to spend time with me and vice versa! I married a family man… exactly who I’ve been wanting my whole life.
So, in other news, I’m thinking about switching up my postings a little bit. Instead of writing at the same time Monday through Friday, I’m going to start posting whenever I have something to post about… whether it’s multiple times in one day or just once every two days or whatever. I’m still trying to find the right fit for me and what works best with my schedule with Nathan. We’ll see how this goes.
Oops!
Jul 3rd
So I totally forgot to post something yesterday, and I feel really bad. Like I just ate a whole chocolate cake all by myself. Fortunately, over indulgence in chocolate cake consumption is not why I forgot to post. It was because Paul and I had a date together last night, and with all the hubbub of getting Nathan’s things packed for an overnight stay with Paul’s parents, it completely slipped my mind.
Which, as usual, our date night rocked. We had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant and later enjoyed our usual past-time of playing pool together. And conversations about our little guy didn’t dominate the evening, although we couldn’t help ourselves- we DID talk about him some. But how could we not when we have a kid with cheeks THAT chubby?
But alas, the world is still turning. So I guess it’s not that big of a deal that I forgot. But still. The guilt is eating away at me. So to make up for it, here’s a cute video of Nathan for you to enjoy.
What? Seriously? They’re threatening to sue McDonald’s over Happy Meal Toys?
Jul 1st
I came across this article and was completely floored. After I read it, I was thinking, Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? But no, it’s not a joke. There really is a group who is threatening to sue McDonald’s because ”McDonald’s marketing has the effect of conscripting America’s children into an unpaid drone army of word-of-mouth marketers, causing them to nag their parents to bring them to McDonald’s.”
In other words, this group is blaming the toys for making kids fat.
Seriously.
Yes, these people really are that dumb. Because apparently, they all forgot that PARENTS are ultimately responsible for their kids’ diets. THE PARENTS need to learn to say “no” to their children. If they have such a problem with toys being included in Happy Meals, if they really think that’s are making kids so fat today- I have a very, very simple solution:
DON’T EAT THERE.
Or at least learn to say “no” to your children. Let your child eat the healthier Happy Meal, you know the ones with the apples and milk. We are in a sad, sad state as a country if parents are really “worn down” and “tired of saying ‘no’ to their children.” THAT IS OUR JOB AS PARENTS, to not let our kids do things that are unsafe or unhealthy.
If McDonald’s or their toys are the cause of your child’s obesity, you and you alone are at fault for allowing them to eat there.
Just, wow. That’s all I can say. Wow. A prime example of parents no longer wanting to parent.
